February Stitching

I have actually gotten a lot of stitching done this month.  I finished my 3rd of 9 Words to Live by for my daughters dance troupe.  I plan on finishing them as stand-ups once I get all 9 stitched.  I have to say I don't really like stitching the same design over and over...

After I completed that I picked up my Rocky Mountain Christmas for a week and actually got quite a ways on that.
Once I completed my week on RMC I have been so inspired by several folks Castles In the Air SAL progress that I picked mine back up.  I finished part 2 and am excited to start part 3 although I do need to start my 4th Dance piece first.

We have gone from loads of snow to 70 degree weather in the span of 2 weeks.  I am truly enjoying this time as I know Mother Nature is not done with winter yet.

Stitching Blizzard

I stitched tonight to attempt to keep my mind off of the weather we have coming in tomorrow.  Per the news reports we have the blizzard of the century hitting us dead on.  As we are on the south-east side of Kansas City they are predicting 24 - 28 inches.  I cannot stress how much I dislike snow and this winter is giving me more than our fair share although I think the Northeast part of the country is getting this after us and they have been hit pretty hard this winter also.

As far as stitching goes I have finally completed page 4 of my HAED Faery Tales.   This page had an incredible amount of confetti stitching but the end result is beautiful.  I love, love, love this project.  Unfortunetely I have to put it down for awhile so I can work on my gift pieces for my daughter's dance troupe.   After I finish 2 more of them I will pick this back up and start on page 5.

Football Sunday

I have just watched an incredible football game...the Green Bay Packers are going to the SuperBowl.  Oh my goodness I think my heart will never recover.  What an awesome game, especially for us Packer fans.  I am still watching the final game but nothing will beat the first one.

In other news I am sooo sick of snow.  It seems like we just get shoveled out from a round of snow and then we get more.  Maybe we will get some relief this week.

For my stitching update I have spent the entire week working on my HAED Faery Tales.  In an unbelieveable moment my DH actual looked at my work and said that it looked much more detailed than anything else I have ever done and he is enjoying watching it grow.  Wow...that has to be a first.  I hope to finish page 4 in the next week or so.

MLK Holiday

I am truly enjoying today off of work.  After a full weekend of football and running my youngest daughter back and forth to the dance studio several times I am feeling as if my house is getting away from me again.  I am determined to get all the laundry done today along with some spot cleaning (and of course some stitching also).  I have had a great week stitching as I have spent it entirely on my HAED Faery Tales.  I so love stitching on this and have a hard time putting it down when I have to rotate onto something else.  I have been working on page 4 (of 40) for the last 2 weeks and am very pleased with my progress.

In addition, I also got my daughter's Unicorn back from the framers.  I spent a long time debating which color matting to use and then found this wonderful frame that has some design in it.  I decided against a matting set as the pattern of the piece is so detailed that I did not want to distract from it at all.

I am going to continue on Faery Tales this week and also begin my 3rd copy of the Dance piece for Ashley's dance troupe.  Hopefully I will have all those done by July.

First Posting for a New Year

Well, as my older daughter started a blog and was explaining how easy it was I decided that maybe I could do it to.  This will definitely be a work in progress as I get the hang of making it 'pretty'.  My goal is to have this be a stitching/update blog.  It hopefully will enable me to keep track of stitching 'stuff' as I move through the year.  First up are my stitching goals for 2011.  I have never actually had any yearly goals and thought that it might be fun to try to write some down and then see how I do throughout the year.  I am going to try to keep these simple and not overreach the first time.

1.  Complete 9 'Words to Live By' for Ashley's dance troupe
2.  Complete the first row of pages on my HAED 'Faery Tales'.
3.  Complete the first panel of the Sistine Chapel project.
4.  Work at least 3 days a month on Rocky Mountain Christmas
5.  Complete at least 3 more parts of Castles in the Air

Whew...I think I could come up with about 15 other goals to reach but I don't want to put so much on the list that I don't have a chance to complete it.  I am going to reserve the right to modify the list as the year goes on if I find I did not put enough on it.
